(1 February 2010 – Australia) Macquarie Bank has announced the appointment of leading investment banker, Michael Ashforth, as executive director of the Macquarie Capital Advisers in Perth; bringing over 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance to the bank.Mr Ashforth joins Macquarie from, boutique investment bank, Gresham Advisory Partners where was head of Perth’s operations for 13 years.
Macquarie Capital Advisers is one of several Macquarie Group businesses servicing West Australian-based clients. Macquarie Group employs approximately 130 staff in Perth, providing banking, advisory, wealth management, funds management and real estate management services.
Michael Carapiet, head of Macquarie Capital Advisers said that the bank welcomes Michael to the Macquarie Capital Advisers team in Perth.
His extensive experience will be of great benefit to the bank’s clients. The strength of his relationships will complement Macquarie’s business in Western Australia, particularly in the resources space where there is strong domestic and cross border activity, Mr Carapiet added.
Mr Ashforth said, about his appointment, that Macquarie’s strong balance sheet and global business will provide a range of opportunities that he is looking forward to discussing with clients.
