(Australia) Macquarie Bank has snapped up Sweden’s A-Train operations for A$76 million as a further asset for its Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund (MEIF).The deal comes a week after the bank acquired UK water utility South East Water for A1.67 million. Like the water company, the bank intends to sell the asset into the fund within six to nine months of MEIF’s initial equity raising being completed.
A-Train operates the high speed rail link, known as the Arlanda Express, which runs between Stockholm’s international and domestic airport and the Swedish capital’s central station.
Macquarie said the Arlanda Express provided good cashflow and potential growth. Last year A-Train turned over A$64 million.
