(19 September 2007 – Australia) MasterCard and HSBC have launched Australia’s first ‘World’ MasterCard.The card, the HSBC Premier World MasterCard, provides customers with a worldwide banking service, allowing cross-border banking and the ability to have accounts opened before arriving in a new country.
Generally, the card enables international recognition, including the ability to transfer credit history.
Leigh Clapham, executive vice president, Australasia, MasterCard Worldwide, said that the card has been launched in over 31 markets worldwide and that it gives Australians who work, live or travel overseas a global and portable banking service.
