Mastercard Appoints Optus Exec as VP of Marketing and Comms

(22 January 2026 – Australia) Mastercard has appointed former Optus executive Alexandra Sloane as its vice president of integrated marketing and communications for Australasia.

Sloane comes from Optus, where she held two separate senior director roles over a three-year period. Prior to this, she was the director of marketing and communications at Facebook for over a decade. She also serves on the board of the NSW Parks and Wildlife Trust.

At Mastercard, Sloane will guide brand strategy and integrated communications for Mastercard, working with the company’s in-house marketing team in Sydney, and its agency partners.

Her remit will span B2B, partner and consumer marketing, as well as overseeing Mastercard’s sponsorship portfolio and the digital brand platform priceless.com. She will report to Paul Monnington, division president, Australasia, and Julie Nestor, executive vice president of marketing and communications for the APAC region.

“Alex brings a rare mix of creativity, commercial acumen and leadership experience,”  Nestor said in a statement.

“She understands how powerful our brand can be when it’s connected to the right stories, experiences and partnerships. I’m thrilled she’s joining the team and I know she will play a big role in shaping how we show up for our customers and their communities in the years ahead.”

Sloane said she is “looking forward to bringing my own unique experience to the table, working with the team to bring Mastercard’s brand to life in new ways for people and businesses across Australasia.”
