NAB opens new contact centre in Sydney

(27 May 2005 – Australia) National Australia Bank has opened a new telephone contact centre in the Sydney suburb of Rhodes as part of a growth strategy that will see the bank open new branches and upgrade existing sites over the next 18 months. The centre will start operating with 300 staff but is expected to reach its 540 people capacity within the next 12 months. It replaces the bank’s 220 seat contact centre in Epping.

At the launch of the centre, NAB CEO Australia, Ahmed Fahour, said the bank recognised the crucial role of contact centres in customer service as the telephone was customers’ preference for communicating with the bank.

He said the new centre was “just one plank” in the bank’s NSW growth strategy.

“Our investment in the Rhodes contact centre and the increase in customer service personnel reflect our commitment to grow our market share in NSW,” Fahour said.

“It is also consistent with our strategy to attract and retain quality people who put customers first,” he said.
