New A$76m EV Freight Infrastructure Funding Boost Announcement

(11 March 2024 – Australia) Australian Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen has announced A$76 million in new funding for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and the freight industry.

The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) will invest A$50 million with Angle Auto Finance (AAF) to fund the purchase of 20,000 new EVs by 2026.

Europcar in conjunction with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) will add 3,100 new EVs to its Australian fleet over three years while also partnering Ampol to implement 256 chargers across 41 high volume hire car locations.

“The federal government is committed to increasing the availability and accessibility of cheaper to run cars. This announcement is a massive boost for motorists, local governments and businesses as well as charging infrastructure” commented Mr Bowen.
