New CEO for ME Bank

(29 January 2010 – Australia) Bendigo Bank has announced the departure of the bank’s head of retail, Jamie McPhee, who is set to take the reigns as the new chief executive officer of Members Equity Bank. The Herald Sun reported that industry insiders said that some major changes to Bendigo Banks senior management team would be announced in the next week.

Mr McPhee succeeds Anthony Wamsteker as chief executive officer; the bank has been searching for the right candidate to fill the position since Mr Wamsteker announced his intention to resign last may.

Mr McPhee previously held the position of chief executive of Adelaide Bank before it was acquired by Bendigo Bank in 2007. Upon Bendigo Bank’s chief resigning last year, Mr McPhee was reportedly in the running to takeover the position, however lost out to Mike Hirst.

Robert Johanson, chairman, Bendigo Bank, said that the bank wishes him every success; for more than 21 years Mr McPhee has made an enormous contribution to the bank and its predecessor organisations, Adelaide Bank and Co-operative Building Society of South Australia.
