RBA creates new banking role

(19 May 2008 – Australia) The Reserve Bank of Australia has announced the creation of a new Assistant Governor role in Banking and Payments.The new role follows the restructure of the responsibilities of the Assistant Governor (Business Services), Bob Rankin, who will focus on the Bank’s currency service.

As well as being responsible for the distribution of currency notes, Dr Rankin has been appointed Chairman of Note Printing Australia Limited and Chairman of Securency International Pty Ltd.

The new role of Assistant Governor (Banking and Payments) will be taken by Keith Hall.

This role oversees the Bank’s provision of banking and payment services to financial institutions, governments and international organisations.

This includes the system that supports the settlement of high-value payments and interbank obligations in Australia.

Hall has held a variety of senior management positions in the Bank, including head of International Department, head of Financial Stability Department and head of Personnel.
