Schroders Appoints Barclays Private Bank Singapore Head as Asia Wealth CEO

(6 April 2026 – Singapore) Schroders Wealth Management has appointed Evonne Tan as chief executive officer of its Asia wealth management business, based in Singapore, as part of its efforts to accelerate regional expansion.

Her appointment remains subject to regulatory approval. She is expected to join the executive committee on 1 July.

Tan will take over from Jason Lai, who currently leads Schroders’ Asia wealth management operations. Lai joined the firm in 2019 following its acquisition of Singapore-based independent asset manager Thirdrock Group, which he established.

The appointment aligns with Schroders’ broader strategy to deepen its presence in Asia, with a focus on enhancing client engagement and strengthening its regional platform. The firm highlighted the continued importance of Asia within its global growth ambitions, citing ongoing wealth creation, increasing cross-border capital flows, and rising demand for more sophisticated advisory-led services.

Tan joins from Barclays, where she serves as managing director and head of private banking in Singapore. She joined the bank in March 2021 and assumed leadership of its private banking division later that year.

Prior to Barclays, she held senior roles across several global institutions, including UBS, where she was executive director and market team head, as well as positions at Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, and Deutsche Bank.

Schroders indicated that Tan’s experience and regional expertise position her to drive the next phase of growth for its Asia wealth management business.
