(25 October 2024 – China) Beijing hosted the 2024 Sibos conference with financial services representatives congregating from across the globe for a week of informative panels, collaborative innovation and networking.
With a core theme of “Connecting the Future of Finance” for Sibos 2024, the conference brought together the global financial community to discuss what lies ahead for the industry across AI, fraud and cybersecurity, CBDCs, sustainable finance, ISO20022, embedded finance, connectivity and real time cross border payments.
Highlights included a debate on the AI revolution and its potential to aid efficiency, expand innovation and personalise experiences, and industry sessions on tokenisation, interconnecting payment systems and multi-currency settlement. The week was concluded with an inspiring closing plenary from Tony Fernandes, one of Asia’s most recognisable entrepreneurs, on how he realised his dream to connect people and change lives.
Swift highlighted its recent announcement for live trials of digital assets and currency transactions through its global network in 2025.
“Our intention is to continue offering our community the ability to seamlessly make and track transactions of all kinds of assets” commented Swift Chief Innovation Officer, Tom Zschach.
“For digital assets to succeed on the required global scale, it’s critical that they can seamlessly coexist with traditional forms of money. As new forms of value emerge, our intention is to continue offering our community the ability to seamlessly make and
track transactions of all kinds of assets using the same secure and resilient infrastructure that is integral to their operations today.”
In 2025 Sibos will be hosted at Messe Frankfurt for the first time before returning to Miami in 2026 and Singapore in 2027.
