(19 September 2005 – Australia) Former Telstra chief executive Ziggy Switkowski has popped up again as director of Queensland based Suncorp Metway.Suncorp chairman John Story said Switkowski’s experience in dealing with a rapidly changing technology environment will assist Suncorp at a time when the financial services industry is facing similar challenges.
“Dr Switkowski has a wealth of senior business experience gained in large international corporations over the past 20 years,” he said.
“His appointment is in line with our strategy to engage directors with broad business and public company experience with an Australia-wide market focus,” Story said.
Switkowski will replace Rod Cormie who is set to retire following Suncorp’s annual general meeting in October 2005.
