(11 November 2024 – Singapore) Visa is partnering with several QR payment providers to support cross-border payments throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Lakala in Mainland China, Touch ‘n Go Digital in Malaysia, FOMO Pay in Singapore, LINE Pay in Taiwan, as well as VNPay and Zalopay in Vietnam, will serve as Visa’s QR network partners, enabling merchants within their networks to accept Visa payments via QR code.
Through this initiative, Visa will allow consumers to use their preferred everyday payment apps to scan and pay at QR-enabled merchants, both domestically and internationally.
“This collaboration marks a considerable advancement for the payments ecosystem across Asia-Pacific,” says T.R. Ramachandran, Senior Vice President and Head of Products and Solutions for Visa in the region. “Consumers who are familiar with using QR payments at home can now benefit from the same secure, seamless payment experience when travelling abroad.”
The program will begin with a pilot in Singapore, with further rollouts planned across other regional markets in the coming year.
Visa is collaborating with payments technology provider Juspay to deliver the technical infrastructure required to enable these QR payment solutions.
