(8 April 2026 – United States) Visa is testing a new tool aimed at simplifying how businesses adopt AI-powered commerce, as it seeks to position its network at the centre of emerging agent-led transactions.
The solution, Intelligent Commerce Connect, is designed as a unified entry point for companies building AI agents, selling to them or enabling transactions. Acting as a network- and token-agnostic layer, it provides a streamlined way to integrate into agentic commerce ecosystems.
Currently in pilot with select partners ahead of a broader rollout, the tool extends Visa’s Intelligent Commerce suite of APIs, supporting secure payments initiated by AI agents within and beyond Visa’s network.
Through a single integration via the Visa Acceptance Platform, businesses can enable tokenisation, authentication, spend controls and payment initiation. The platform also supports interoperability with non-Visa card networks, allowing agents to transact across multiple payment rails.
Andrew Torre, President of Value-Added Services at Visa, says: “From small businesses to the world’s biggest retailers, Visa powers how people pay every day, millions of times over. Intelligent Commerce Connect brings that same, trusted payment acceptance infrastructure into the emerging world of AI-driven commerce, so businesses can let AI agents buy on behalf of consumers, securely and at scale.”
