Westpac appoints NZ institutional banking head

(27 January 2004 – New Zealand) Westpac has named David McLean as its new head of institutional banking in New Zealand.McLean began his career at Westpac in 1999 when he was chosen to run the New Zealand operation’s Debt Capital Markets Group.

McLean is a former lawyer who has 15 years experience in New Zealand’s capital markets. He took up the new role earlier this month.

In further news, Westpac New Zealand has implemented anti-money laundering software to comply with New Zealand regulations and US Patriot Act requirements.

The new system screens financial messages coming into and leaving the bank for listed terrorists and criminals.
