(18 September 2012 – Australia) Westpac announced the appointment of Shane O’Riordain as general manager, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability last week.O’Riordain, is currently Group Communications director at Royal Mail in the United Kingdom, and was appointed following a global executive search.
He will join the Westpac Group in early 2013 and will be responsible for Westpac’s media relations, government relations, internal communications, sustainability and community involvement.
He will report to Westpac’s Group executive, Human Resources & Corporate Affairs, Christine Parker, and will work closely with the chief executive, Gail Kelly, and the Group Executive team.
O’Riordain joined Royal Mail in 2010, where he has been responsible for media relations, public affairs, internal communications, corporate responsibility, community investment and sponsorship.
For two decades, he has held corporate affairs management roles with some of the UK’s largest companies including Royal Mail, Lloyds Banking Group, HBOS and Halifax.
He has worked in London, Dublin and Washington D.C., both in diplomacy and corporate affairs.
O’Riordain has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Warwick, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from the Institute of Public Administration, Dublin, and a Masters of Science in Organisational Behaviour from the University of London.
