ANZ confirms new chairman
(26 February 2010 – Australia) ANZ has confirmed that John Morschel will succeed the group’s chairman of 14 years, Charles Goode, on the 1st of March 2010.
Charles Goode, chairman, ANZ said that the bank will have an excellent new chairman in John Morschel.
The incoming and outgoing chairmen have been working closely together over recent months to ensure a smooth transition of the role.
Mr Goode said, in a statement, that it has been a great privilege to have been the group’s chairman for over 14 years; adding that together with the bank’s board of directors and the management staff of ANZ a lot has been achieved.
Mr Morschel said that Mr Goode has successfully overseen an extraordinary period of change at ANZ and has made an outstanding contribution to businesses and the community, not only in Australia, but in the Asia Pacific region.
The incoming chairman said that it is an honour to succeed Mr Goode and is looking forward to continuing to work with the board, Mike Smith and his management team to realise ANZ’s vision to build a super regional bank.
