ANZ HQ officially at Docklands

ANZ HQ officially at Docklands

(3 April 2009 – Australia) Executives at ANZ have decided to make the move to the new ANZ building at Docklands and away from the former CBD headquarters. The new Docklands building will be the bank’s head office and will house all executives, including chief executive Mike Smith.

The building, to be known as ANZ Centre, is located at 833 Collins Street and is expected to be completed by September. It will also serve as ANZ’s registered office.

From October, ANZ staff will begin moving into ANZ Centre and by January 2010, ANZ expects the building to house 6,500 staff.

At a total of 83,000 square metres, the office is reportedly Australia’s largest single-tenant office, and is 10,000 square metres more than NAB’s new office, also at Docklands.

ANZ Centre has 10 office floors, plus an upper ground floor that will be open to the public.

The building has been designed with ANZ’s sustainable approach in mind.

ANZ Centre has strong sustainability credentials, with black water recycling, rainwater harvesting, solar panels, wind turbines and an air-conditioning system that uses cool water from the Yarra River to reduce energy consumption. The building includes 500 bike racks and staff changing facilities, said ANZ Group General Manager Property Ms Jane Hamilton.

While the building will be open plan, top executives will get their own offices, unlike at NAB.

When ANZ Centre is completed, the Bank will be able to reduce the number of commercial properties it holds in Melbourne from 13 to eight.

ANZ’s building at 100 Queen Street is expected to house its Institutional Division and Private Bank.
