HSBC appoints new head of capital financing in Australia

(8 December 2015 – Australia) HSBC has appointed James Dynon as the Head of Capital Financing in Australia.

Dynon will be responsible for the bank’s Debt Capital Markets, Leverage and Acquisition Finance, Project Export Finance and most recently Mergers and Acquisitions teams in Australia, reporting locally to Tony Cripps, CEO Australia, and functionally to Stephen Williams, Head of Capital Financing, Asia Pacific.

He will add this role in to his existing responsibilities as HSBC's Head of Project Export Finance for Australia - a position he has held since 2009.

According to the bank, cross border activity within the market has underscored the successful growth of its capital financing team in Australia. In 2014 alone Australia attracted A$140 billion in new foreign direct investment1. This is coupled with increased M&A activity - which has grown 10 percent over the last year to US$56.8 billion (A$78.2 billion) in 2015.

Tony Cripps, Australia CEO for HSBC, said: "With Australian businesses continuing to look offshore to fund their growth agendas and international companies equally enticed by Australia's deep liquidity, strong infrastructure pipeline and stable legal and political environment, we see unwavering demand for innovative funding solutions that can be managed at both ends of an international transaction."
