NAB launches SMS banking

NAB launches SMS banking

(21 May 2008 – Australia) National Australia Bank has launched SMS banking to holders of transaction, savings and credit card accounts. NAB has highlighted the services as quick, easy and convenient and is the newest addition to the developing technology based banking services.

Andrew Thorburn, NAB's executive general manager, Retail, said SMS Banking was the latest banking innovation for customers and will be especially useful for those customers who want banking on the go.

He added that the introduction was part of a promise from NAB to customers to make banking easier.

For now, the service is limited to three types of transactions. NAB customers can use SMS to request and receive an account balance, a mini statement, or transfer funds between their linked NAB accounts.

Thorburn added that this service could be useful for everyone, from students and tradespeople through to busy people and professionals.

He also highlighted that the service can be used on any network, both in Australia and using global roaming overseas.

NAB has made the service free until the first of November 2008 in order to encourage users to trial a service that offers different capabilities to the traditional range of products.
