New local CEO for Rabobank
(25 September 2009 –Australia) Rabobank Australia and New Zealand has announced the appointment of their new chief executive officer, Thos Gieskes.
Mr Gieskes most recently led Rabobank’s operations in Chile as CEO since 2002, and will take over the reins from current chief, Bruce Dick.
Mr Dick, who has been in the position of CEO for more than eight years, is leaving to head National Micro Finance Bank (NMB), an operation in Tanzania partly owned by the international Rabobank Group.
During Mr Dick’s time as CEO, the Rabobank Australia and New Zealand business has experienced growth of the asset base by 166 percent and profits by 183 percent.
Incoming CEO, Thos Gieskes’ relationship with the company extends back a number of years. He has been involved with Rabobank’s international network from 1990, holding a range of senior positions, including head of Relationship Management, Food & Agribusiness and Commodity Finance.
Rabobank Australia & New Zealand chairman Bill Gurry highlighted that Mr Gieskes would bring a strong background in international agricultural banking to his new position.
Mr Gieskes has extensive experience in not just international agricultural banking, but also in the wider global food and agribusiness sector in the area of agricultural research, Mr Gurry said.
In a statement Mr Gieskes said, that he was looking forward to running the Australian and New Zealand business because it is a successful part of Rabobank’s international operations, thanks primarily to the quality and success of the food and agribusiness producers in this region.
