Worldpay inks deals with FIS and Amazon Pay

Worldpay inks deals with FIS and Amazon Pay

(20 March 2019 - Global) After finalising its agreement to be acquired by FIS for $35 billion, Worldpay has also become the first acquirer to enable Amazon Pay for its US merchants.

The partnership helps take Amazon Pay out of its own platform and into the wider ecommerce ecosystem, tapping into a Worldpay network that processes over 40 billion transactions a year.

Asif Ramji, chief product and marketing officer, Worldpay, said: "By teaming up with Amazon, we have an even stronger capacity to enable digital commerce, streamline the checkout experience and drive frictionless payments for our merchants."

The acquisition by FIS is the biggest deal to date in the electronic payments industry and follows on from Fiserv’s buyout of payment processes First Data for $22 billion in January.
