ANZ Bank appoints chief economist
(4 August 2016 – Australia) ANZ Bank has announced that Richard Yetsenga will carry on his role as chief economist in a permanent capacity following his interim appointment earlier this year.
Yetsenga officially replaces Warren Hogan, who resigned in March to spend more time with his family. Hogan had been with the bank for 11 years, including five in his last role.
The chief economist will report to ANZ’s markets boss Shayne Collins, who said Yetsenga had cemented his position after a strong performance as the acting chief.
“Richard’s vast economics experience in financial markets both here in Australia and across the region makes him ideally qualified to lead ANZ’s research team,” he said.
“Since taking on the acting role of chief economist he has made a strong contribution to the team through his values-led leadership, as well as having a commercial impact on the bank’s broader business.”
Yetsenga has been with the bank since 2011 and has previously held senior economic research roles at HSBC, Deutsche Bank and the federal government.
