BankWest adds to rural business banking network

(11 May 2007 – Australia) BankWest continues to spread its wings in rural Australia and has opened a new Business Banking Centre in Goondiwindi, on the Queensland, New South Wales border. BankWest also has offices in Toowoomba, Geebung and Townsville.

BankWest head of Rural and Regional Banking, Jamie Ritchie, said Goondiwindi was a growing region and had been selected because of its strategic importance in the region.

"There is growing demand in Goondiwindi for competitive financial agribusiness products," he said.

"BankWest is a relative newcomer to the Queensland rural and regional banking sector however many businesses on the east coast aren’t aware that BankWest has over a hundred year history in Western Australia and was formed out of an agricultural bank," Ritchie said.
