(1 August 2016 – New Zealand) HSBC has appointed Rob Roughan as Head of Commercial Banking, New Zealand, effective immediately.

Roughan has moved to HSBC from Barclays Bank, Ireland, where he was Head of Global Corporates and Product, prior to which he was Director, Investment Banking at Barclays Capital in Ireland.

Roughan has previous experience in the New Zealand market. Until 2005, he was ANZ Bank New Zealand’s Head of Food, Beverage and Agribusiness, before which he was Head of Corporate Banking at the National Bank of New Zealand.

He will report locally to Chris Russell, CEO of HSBC in New Zealand, and on a functional basis to Tim Evans, HSBC’s Head of Commercial Banking, International Countries, Asia Pacific.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Russell said, “Rob’s wealth of international and local banking experience will further strengthen the commercial banking offering we provide for our corporate clients in New Zealand, helping them connect with opportunities abroad. His appointment also demonstrates the importance of the continued growth opportunities that the Bank sees in the New Zealand market.”
