Mac bank hires ex-Nomura exec

(12 March 2010 – India) Macquarie Bank has hired a former Nomura Holdings banker to head up its capital advisory team in India, in an effort to strengthen the banks expansion in the region. The former head of telecommunications, media and financial services, Gauray Gupta, has more than 12 years experience in investment banking and transaction advisory, the Australian investment bank said in a statement this week.

Mr Gupta will report to Macquarie Capital Advisers’ deputy head of Asia, Kalpana Desai.

The bank added that Mr Gupta’s appointment was part of its Asian advisory and capital markets expansion in Asia’s third largest economy.
