New Asia CEO for NAB
(23 October 2012 – Asia) Last week, National Australia Bank (NAB) announced the appointment of Spiro Pappas as chief executive, Asia, responsible for accelerating the growth of NAB's business in Asia.
Pappas is responsible for managing NAB's operations in Asia and strengthening the franchise in close coordination with the Bank's businesses in Australia and New Zealand.
NAB Group chief executive, Cameron Clyne said he is delighted with the appointment of Spiro, who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role.
'Flows of trade, people and capital between Asia, Australia and New Zealand have grown exponentially and are showing no signs of abating. NAB has long recognised this trend and has been investing in the growth of our Asian operations for over 40 years.
'As one of NAB's most senior bankers, with over 23 years of international and domestic financial services experience, Spiro is extremely well placed to drive the NAB's strategy in Asia,' said Cameron.
Pappas said he is looking forward to the challenge of the role and expanding NAB's presence in Asia.
'NAB has a solid foundation in Asia which I am looking forward to continuing to expand in my new role as CEO of NAB Asia.
'NAB has always focused on supporting customers through our strong relationship driven approach and I am committed to bringing the best of our expertise and services to our customers, as our intraregional trade and investment flows continue to grow in strength,' he said.
