WBC appoints new CIO

WBC appoints new CIO

(21 July 2008 – Australia) Westpac has announced the appointment of Bob McKinnon as the new technology executive for the bank. Bob McKinnon will become the new chief information officer for the bank, as part of the recently announced organisational restructure.

McKinnon replaces Simon McNamara, who departed the bank last week, before the restructure was announced.

As part of this restructure, Westpac has closed the business technology solutions and services (BTSS) group, resulting in the departure of group executive Diane Sias. Sias will leave the bank in September.

McKinnon has significant previous experience as a CIO for a Big Four Australian bank, as the technology executive with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia for a period spanning seven years, from 2000 to 2006.

Since 2006, McKinnon has worked for Multiplex, firstly as chief financial officer and since moving to the role of joint managing director of Multiplex before its acquisition in June by Canadian private equity firm Brookfield Asset Management.

McKinnon is a chartered accountant and has financial and management experience from senior positions with Lend Lease and National Australia Bank's MLC. He also ran State Street's operations in Australia.
