Drew Riethmuller appointed to head BTMU Oceania role

(17 November 2015 – Japan) The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) has appointed ex-ANZ executive, Drew Riethmuller as deputy general manager and head of global corporate banking for Oceania, the Australian Financial Review (AFR) reported on Friday.

According to the bank’s staff, Riethmuller will commence his new role in February 2016, the AFR said.

The Japanese bank’s head for Oceania, Mr Toru Masutani told staff: "Given his depth of experience, he is ideally placed to lead the corporate banking team and drive the business to the next stage of our development.”

Riethmuller previous roles include ANZ Bank’s managing director of the customer solutions group. He was also that bank’s managing director of global relationship banking.  He has also had tenures with Citigroup in London and Sydney in senior positions in fixed income and structured capital markets.

In his note, Mr Masutani added that: “This new appointment is part of BTMU's overall strategic intent to leverage on senior and international banking talent to further spur the growth of its global corporate banking business in Asia and Oceania."
