HSBC appoints new regional head of ISB Asia-Pacific

(18 January 2017 – India) HSBC has promoted its current commercial banking head in India, Sandeep Uppal, to regional head of International Subsidiary Banking (ISB), Asia-Pacific.

The appointment will be effective from 1 June 2017, with Uppal being responsible for subsidiaries of commercial banking clients across 19 markets in Asia-Pacific and will report to both Stuart Tait, regional head of commercial banking Asia-Pacific, and Cate Luzio, HSBC’s global head of ISB.

Uppal’s role as the HSBC India’s head of commercial banking will be assumed by Rajat Verma, also with effect from 1 June 2017. Verma is currently HSBC’s head of corporates for commercial banking in India and has been with HSBC for more than 19 years. He will report to Stuart Milne, CEO of HSBC India.

“Sandeep brings a wealth of experience that will be invaluable to our growth strategy within the region,” Tait said in a release.
