HSBC sees future in Asia and Americas

HSBC sees future in Asia and Americas

(18 October 2005 – Asia) HSBC has highlighted Asia and the Americas as the primary markets for investment over the next 10 to 20 years. HSBC chief executive Stephen Green said the bank would strengthen its business in markets which offered the highest growth potential.

These included markets such as China, Brazil and India.

Europe, on the other hand, seemed likely to experience slower growth in the near future, Green said.

He said the bank aimed to grow its businesses organically and wasn’t planning on making acquisitions.

Green said he was confident that regulators in China were focussed about what needs to be done to ensure a stable environment and that financial services would grow rapidly as a result.
