Increased security for iPhone customers
(2 November 2009 – Europe) Germany’s Postbank is set to increase security for customers who bank online using their iPhones by introducing VeriSign EV SSL certificates.
The VeriSign Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer (EV SSL) is designed to add an extra layer of security for iPhone customers by turning their URL address bar in the web browser green when a site is recognised as authentic.
The bank has been using the technology since 2007 for its online customers and a green safari toolbar signals that customers can conduct their transactions knowing that all data being transmitted is encrypted.
With fraudulent activity on the rise, security concerns are the main problem with the growth of the use of mobile internet on cellphones.
Therefore, banks are trying to alleviate customers concerns by introducing methods such as the VeriSign EV SSL platform.
Michael Heinen, business unit manager, direct banking, Postbank said that with the launch of the VeriSign EV SSL Certificates for iBanking on the iPhone, Postbank is taking a huge step forward in its efforts to build trust and reassurance for this fast-growing segment of the customer base.
