NAB streamlines group executive committee

(16 September 2005 – Australia) National Australia Bank has streamlined its Group Executive Committee, reducing it to just eight members. The members are: managing director John Stewart; director, Finance and Risk, Michael Ullmer; CEO Australia, Ahmed Fahour; CEO UK, Lynne Peacock; CEO New Zealand, Peter Thodey; executive general manager, Institutional Markets & Services, John Hooper; executive general manager, Group Development, Cameron Clyne; and group chief risk officer, Mike Hamar.

"During the last year we have moved to a regional operating model in which our businesses would have greater autonomy to improve efficiency, break down bureaucracy and speed up decision making," Stewart said.

He said the bank had reviewed the role of Group Head Office over recent months with the view to making it nimble, innovative, and customer driven.

NAB said Cameron Clyne’s new role would focus on business development opportunities, project governance and the bank’s Six Sigma capability. He will also be responsible for the activities of the office of the CEO.

The bank said Ross Pinney, who was executive general manager for the Office of the CEO, had retired after 15 years with NAB.
