AmEx expands commercial card GM role

(7 December 2005 – Australia) American Express has promoted Tracey Bowra to general manager for Commercial Card, expanding her role to include the Marketing and Product Development, and Global Business Partnerships groups. She will also lead the sales and account management teams in Japan, Asia Pacific and Australia.

Bowra has more than 20 years experience of the cards business, 18 of which have been spent at American Express.

American Express president Global Commercial Card, Gordon Smith, said Bowra had played an integral part in the ongoing success of the commercial card business in the region.

"She has a proven track record of running profitable businesses, launching new products and developing relationships with partners that deliver real benefits for our card members," Smith said.

Bowra, who will be based in Sydney, takes on full P&L responsibility for the region and will be oversee regional sales, account development and quality reengineering.

She has led the Global Commercial Card group in Asia Pacific and Australia since July 2003, presiding over 11 countries in the region.

"This card business is growing very quickly in the Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia region and American Express is well placed to further increase our growth and deliver greater value to our Card Members," Bowra said.
