ANZ adds to foreign exchange department
(1 June 2011 – Australia) Former HSBC Holdings global head of emerging markets currency strategy, Richard Yetsenga has been hired by ANZ to head its global foreign exchange research department.
Mr Yetsenga will move from Hong Kong to take up the Sydney-based role in June. He spent the past seven years in Hong Kong. He was formerly with Deutsche Bank in Sydney, working with ANZ's current head of Australian economics, Ivan Colhoun.
Mr Yetsenga is the latest hire for ANZ as part of a deliberate 'build out' of staff numbers to support its 'super-regional strategy', ANZ global head of economics Warren Hogan told Dow Jones Newswires.
'Clearly our super-regional strategy dictates we need to be good at, not just Australia and New Zealand, but also Asia,' Mr Hogan said. 'This takes advantage of Richard's deep knowledge of Asian currencies.'
ANZ plans to hire another three research staff, in part to bolster its ranks in London, currently at one, Mr Hogan said. New York will also be a focus but with the bulk of the build-out focused on Asia.
