ANZ appoints Peter Chan as CEO Philippines

(25 May 2015 – Philippines) ANZ announced the appointment of Peter Chan as chief executive ANZ Philippines, reporting to managing director South East Asia and India Sameer Sawhney.

Chan has served in a number of senior banking roles across Asia since joining ANZ in 2008 and he is currently chief of staff to chief executive International and Institutional Banking Andrew Géczy.

Prior to this role, Chan was head of Institutional Relationships for ANZ Taiwan and before that established ANZ’s corporate and institutional business in Hong Kong.

Commenting on the appointment Sawhney said: “Peter has significant international experience and is well placed to help grow our business and support our customers in the Philippines.

“The Philippines continues to be one of Asia’s best performing economies with annual GDP growth of around 6% supported by robust private consumption, investment, and exports.

“Our banking business, our credit card partnership with Metrobank and our operations hub make it an important market for ANZ.”

Current chief executive for ANZ Philippines Panadda Manoleehakul will continue to lead the work program associated with the establishment of ANZ’s branch presence in Thailand.

Manoleehakul will be appointed to a new senior role with ANZ later in the year.

Chan’s appointment, which is subject to regulatory approval, is effective 1 June 2015.
