ANZ appoints RBS leaders

(11 February 2010 – Asia) ANZ has announced that Wendy Lim and Jos Dijsselhof, formerly of RBS, have commenced leadership roles within the bank; as ANZ continues its acquisition of selected RBS businesses. The duo, based in Singapore, have commenced positions in ANZ’s Asia Pacific, Europe and America division.

Wendy Lim has commenced the role of managing director of Retail Banking and Wealth Products. Ms Lim will be responsible for leading the division in Asia Pacific, including leveraging ANZ’s partnerships in an effort to achieve the bank’s goal of being known as the preferred bank for emerging affluent and affluent customers.

Jos Dijsselhof has been appointed general manager, Operations, Asia Pacific, Europe and America. As part of his role Mr Dijsselhof is charged with the task of developing the bank’s operating platform to maximise efficiencies and support ANZ’s business in the region.

Alex Thursby, CEO of ANZ Asia Pacific, Europe and America, said that the bank is pleased to have people of Wendy and Jos’ depth of experience in the Asia Pacific region take up senior roles in ANZ’s business.

As RBS staff come across to ANZ through the acquisition in six key markets, the combined businesses will benefit from their expertise and experience, right up to the most senior levels, Mr Thursby added.

In August last year ANZ announced that it had reached an agreement with the Royal Bank of Scotland to acquire selected RBS businesses in Asia.

The acquisition included the RBS retail, wealth, and commercial businesses in Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

ANZ also acquired the institutional business of RBS in Taiwan, the Philippines and Vietnam.
