ANZ appoints senior currency strategist

ANZ appoints senior currency strategist

(3 May 2006 – Australia) ANZ has appointed Tony Morriss as senior currency strategist for ANZ Markets Research. Morris has joined ANZ from the New South Wales Treasury Corporation (TCorp), where he was senior economist, responsible for providing key economic and financial forecasts for TCorp, NSW Treasury and public trading enterprises.

At ANZ, Morriss will provide Foreign Exchange (FX) research which will be used to support ANZ’s Markets business.

ANZ said his role would also include "elements of commodities, technical and fundamental customer-oriented strategic research on the global Foreign Exchange markets".

"ANZ has a strong reputation for its economics and financial markets research. With the appointment of Tony we will ensure the quality of our research continues to be a key differentiator for ANZ," head of Market Economics & Strategy, Warren Hogan said.

Morriss also worked at Thomson Financial in the UK and Japan where he was Managing Editor/Senior Analyst, and Bankers Trust Australia as a Markets Economist. Tony began his career as a foreign exchange dealer in London.

He will be based in Sydney.
