ANZ beefs up NZ board
(30 November 2004 – New Zealand) ANZ has strengthened its board in New Zealand with the appointment of Rob McLeod and Peter Marriott.
McLeod was managing partner of Andersen and subsequently chairman at Ernst & Young following the merger of the two accountancy firms.
He is currently chairman of the NZ Business Roundtable, chairman of Aoteroa Fisheries Ltd, a member of the NZ United States Council Advisory Board, and a member of the Hui Taumata 2005 Steering Committee.
McLeod is an authority on finance and taxation and has contributed to government policy and accounting profession in New Zealand. He was chairman of the Government Tax review 2001 a member of the Ministerial Taskforce on Tertiary Education.
Marriott is ANZ’s chief financial officer and was a partner at KPMG Peat Marwich before joining the bank.
ANZ chief executive John McFarlane said the two appointments reflected the importance of a strong board "considering the significance of ANZ National Bank in New Zealand".
