ANZ beefs up project finance business

ANZ beefs up project finance business

(20 May 2005 – Australia) ANZ Investment Bank has made three key appointments in its Project Finance business in Australia and Asia. Devarshi Das has joined the bank from US based Progressive Insurance as its senior associate, Project Finance. Das will be based in Singapore and report to Vijay Sethu, the bank’s head of Project Finance in Asia.

Simon Kelland has moved to executive director, Project Finance – Diversified Industries, from the bank’s Esanda business where he was general manager of New Business Development & Strategy.

Kelland joined ANZ from Macquarie Bank and will be based in Sydney reporting to Clyde Moore, global head of Project and Export Finance.

Rohan Menon has joined ANZ from ABN Amro as senior manager, Project Finance – Diversified Industries, reporting to Simon Kelland. Menon has also worked in corporate finance at WestLB and William M Mercer.

In January, Jonathan Gray joined ANZ from ABN Amro as associate director, Project Finance. Gray, an expert in the natural resources sector, is based in Sydney, reporting to Chris Tonkin, executive director, Project and Structured Finance.

ANZ said its Investment Bank had arranged 28 project finance transactions over the past 12 months, valued at US$6.7 billion. The bank has 21 offices across Asia Pacific, not including Australia and New Zealand.
