ANZ CEO steps down

ANZ CEO steps down

(31 August 2010 – New Zealand) The chief executive officer of ANZ New Zealand has stepped down from her role to due to breast cancer. Jenny Fagg, who has been responsible for ANZ’s New Zealand business since May 2009, has stepped down from the top position after being diagnosed six weeks ago.

Prior to becoming chief executive Mrs Fagg was managing director for NZ Retail Distribution, responsible for two retail banking franchises- ANZ and The National Bank.

Replacing Mrs Fagg is her deputy Steven Fyfe.

Mr Fyfe has been responsible for the bank’s marketing, product management, customer segmentation, communication and strategy function for the New Zealand businesses.

Prior to this, he was chief operating officer for ANZ National and managing director of ANZ Retail Banking (New Zealand).

In a statement National Bank chair Sir Dryden Spring said that Mrs Fagg is much loved in New Zealand and by the wider ANZ community and the board and her staff wish her a speedy recovery.
