ANZ commits a further $170m to upgrade NZ offices

(12 December 2012 – New Zealand) Last week, ANZ announced an investment of NZ$170 million (A$135 million) to upgrade its offices in Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga and regional centres over the next four years. The new investment is additional to the NZ$100 million ANZ will spend over the next two years on its branch network, including expansion into 15 new communities throughout New Zealand.

"ANZ has more people in more places throughout NZ than any other bank. This investment signals our commitment to communities throughout the country and to growing the new ANZ," said Craig Sims, chief operating officer of ANZ New Zealand.

"In addition to new leases in these main centres, we’ll undertake significant improvements and take on naming rights in a number of high profile properties."

"As the new ANZ our goal is to have the largest and most convenient branch network in New Zealand," Sims said.

"Over the next two years, we'll increase our branch presence from 75 percent of where New Zealanders live to almost 90 percent - with 15 new communities getting new branches."
