ANZ Deputy CEO to Retire

(20 March 2009 – Australia) ANZ has announced that current deputy chief, Bob Edgar, will retire midway through 2009, to be replaced by Graham Hodges. The bank said that, following Edgar’s decision to retire, Graham Hodges will become Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for driving operational performance and managing key client and other external relationships.

Hodges is currently CEO New Zealand and Managing Director ANZ National Bank, a role he has held since late 2005.

Previously at ANZ, Hodges has also been Group Managing Director, Corporate, and as well as the bank’s Chief Economist.

ANZ also immediately announced Hodges’ replacement as New Zealand chief.

Jenny Fagg was appointed to the role of CEO New Zealand and Managing Director ANZ National. Dr Fagg will also join ANZ’s Management Board following her appointment.

Dr Fagg is currently Deputy Chief Executive Officer ANZ National and Managing Director Retail Distribution for ANZ National.

She was previously Managing Director Consumer Finance for ANZ in Australia.

Mr Hodges’ and Dr Fagg’s appointments are effective 1 May 2009 following the retirement of Dr Edgar on 30 April 2009.
