ANZ exec departs

(10 June 2008 – Australia) The ANZ head of working capital has announced his resignation due to personal reasons. The bank executive was responsible for overseeing securities lending to failed stockbroking firm Opes Prime.

Chris Cooper, was the head of ANZ’s working capital division and has left the company citing personal and family reasons.

Vishnu Shahney, head of corporate banking, will assume Cooper’s responsibilities until the search for a replacement is complete.

The Opes Prime investigation by ANZ into whether employees breeched company policies or acted illegally is underway with much more to do, ANZ said.

Cooper has agreed to co-operate with the bank’s ongoing investigation.
