ANZ makes top tier changes

ANZ makes top tier changes

(29 July 2010− Australia) ANZ’s wealth management team has gained a number of new senior managers, including John Van Der Wielen from Lloyds banking Group. From October Mr Van Der Wielen, who was most recently managing director of Clerical Medical, Halifax Life and European Financial Services at Lloyds Banking Group, will head up the ANZ’s wealth management team.

ANZ’s chief executive of the bank’s Australian operations, Phil Chronican, said that Mr Van Der Wielen’s appointment signals ANZ’s intention to grow more aggressively in the Wealth segment.

With more than 25 years experience in general and life insurance, wealth management and banking, gained both in Australia and overseas, John will be a tremendous asset to ANZ and to the bank’s specialist wealth businesses, Mr Chronican added.

Harry Stout, currently managing director for the bank’s wealth management business, ING Australia, will be returning to the United States next year, however prior to this will step into the position of managing director wealth until Mr Van Der Wielen’s arrival.

Further changes include Louis Hawke, formerly managing director of retail distribution, who has been named the bank’s new managing director of product, strategy and marketing.

Mark Hand has also been appointed managing director for retail distribution and was previously general manager for regional commercial banking at ANZ.
