ANZ reorganises Asia

(18 October 2007 – Asia) ANZ has announced a restructure of its Asia Pacific division in a bid to accelerate growth opportunities in the region. The bank has said it had created two senior leadership roles in its retail and institutional businesses in Asia.

The leadership roles will also align Asia Pacific with ANZ’s Divisional structure.

Owen Wilson has taken on the role of managing director retail – Asia, while Mark Whelan has taken up the respective role in the institutional business.

Both will have a joint reporting structure, reporting to the group managing director of the Asia Pacific division, Alex Thursby, as well as the group managing directors of their respective business line.

These are Brian Hartzer for the personal division and Peter Hodgson for the institutional division.

There will also be three senior regional roles reporting to Thursby, responsible for developing client relationships in their respective regions.

Mr Thursby said that the new structure will bring renewed focus to developing ANZ as a regional financial services institution.
