ANZ wraps up RBS Taiwan acquisition

(20 April 2010 – Asia) Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited has announced the completion of the acquisition of The Royal Bank of Scotland’s Taiwan businesses, also announcing its new operating name of Au Sheng Yin Hang. The bank’s chief executive officer of Asia Pacific Europe and America, Alex Thursby, said that the completion of the acquisition now meant ANZ was a ‘major bank in Taiwan’, boasting 22 branches and business covering wealth, retail, commercial, institutional and private banking.

As part of the deal ANZ also acquired ABN AMRO’s Private Banking business in Taiwan.
