Aussie cricketer takes on banks

(9 May 2007 – Australia) Widely thought of as one of Australia’s best ever one day cricketers, Michael Bevan is now wielding his bat in Australia’s mortgage industry. Bevan has launched Michael Bevan Mortgages (MBM), partnering with franchise consultancy The Franchise Shop and aims to establish 130 franchises in the next five years. MBM also guarantees a franchisee income of A$50,000 a year.

Bevan admitted the idea is emulating fellow cricketer Adam Parore’s mortgage business in New Zealand.

He said MBM would provide a supportive environment for franchisees to develop a profitable business and the tools and training to help applicants establish themselves as leading mortgage brokers.

"The concept behind the business revolves around sharing expertise with new franchisees and supporting the growth of individual businesses as part of a larger group," Bevan said.
