Bank ABC make new Head of Asia appointment

(21 July 2017 – Asia) Bahrain-based Arab Banking Corporation (Bank ABC) has appointed Patrick Tan as General Manager of its Singapore Branch and Head of Asia.

Tan will be responsible for leading the Bank’s business in Singapore and East Asia across all wholesale banking, treasury and financial markets products, working closely with other product lines and geography teams in the Bank ABC Group.

Dr. Khaled Kawan, Group CEO of Bank ABC, said, “Upgrading our presence in Singapore to a branch reflects our commitment to our customers in the MENA region and in Asia. This new milestone will put us closer to serve our clients and satisfy their financial needs in this very important financial centre. Asia is a key market to the global connectivity of our businesses and their growth in the region. I am very pleased to have Patrick building on our history in Asia and leading our revised plans going forward. His proven track record and deep understanding of our clients’ needs have prepared him well for this role.”

Tan has more than 20 years of banking experience is Asia Pacific, including senior roles at international banks. He has covered the Asia Pacific region, with focus on corporate and investment banking with large conglomerates and multinational companies.

On his appointment, Tan said, “I am pleased to take up this new role as Head of Asia. Bank ABC has already been active in the region for the last three decades. I look forward to working with the rest of the Group to accelerate the development of the Bank’s business in East Asia.

Bank ABC’s presence in Singapore spans 35 years, first opening in 1982. The bank realigned its business strategy in 2015, and turned its Singapore office to a full branch. Additionally, the city-state’s central bank, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), granted it approval to operate a wholesale bank branch.
