Banking to be hot job sector in 2010

(18 December 2009 – UK) A survey revealed that banking will be a principal sector for recruitment in 2010. The survey conducted by a UK recruitment site, IT Job Board, showed that of the 129 candidates polled, 48 percent said that despite a difficult 2009 they believe the banking industry will be a hot spot for job hunting in 2010.

Peter Healey, sales director, The IT Job Board, said that he believes that next year the finance sector will really pick up. Banking was the first to be hit during the recession, but it will also be the first to recover, and it will offer a lot of opportunity in terms of IT recruitment.

The second most likely area for work cited by 42 percent was software and IT services, followed by telecoms, named by 41 percent.

Of the respondents 31 percent said that .net will be a main skill in demand, while 29 percent said that skills in SAP would help land positions and Java and Web development roles came out with 26 percent.

Overall, 58 percent said that contract jobs will be in greater demand during 2010, compared to permanent positions.
