Bankwest intends to bolster business broking

(21 May 2010 – Australia) Bankwest’s head of business & private banking, Mark Reid, has announced the bank's intention to strengthen its presence in the business broking channel. Similarly to his previous role in Bankwest Retail, Mr Reid is building a new divisional approach to the Sales & Service model of the Business division.

In a statement the bank said Mr Reid had spent the initial two months in his role gaining a sound understanding of the division and identifying opportunities to strengthen the bank's position.

As part of this evaluation, Mr Reid identified an opportunity in the Business bank to intensify the bank's Business broker presence, the bank added.

Immediate plans to support this include the upcoming launch of the dedicated business broker website and constructing a broker strategy for the Business bank moving forward.

Aaron Milburn, head of retail broker sales, will support Mr Reid and work within Bankwest Business to build a broker strategy for the Business bank.

Mr Reid said the assistance Mr Milburn will provide in putting the strategy together will be a great support to the overall direction of Bankwest in the broker channel in line with the new Business strategic focus.

Mr Reid said that he is confident that with Mr Milburn’s support, Bankwest will shape the best fit-for-purpose business broker model.

Further to this, Mr Milburn’s well established relationship with the external broker community provides a strong foundation to complement Bankwest Business' success to date across the broker channel, Mr Reid added.

Mr Milburn will continue to retain relationships in the retail broker channel, with the support of Ian Rakhit, head of specialist banking, Bankwest Retail.
